VVV’s narrow 2-1 loss to Vitesse last time out means the hosts are currently ninth in the Eredivise heading into this clash with visitors Zwolle, who could only draw at home to bottom dwellers NAC Breda last time out. They were also knocked out of the KNVB Cup by AZ Alkmaar in midweek and are on a rather poor run of form.
These two teams last met back in March where hosts Zwolle came from behind in the second half to rescue a point. Zwolle were the better of the two sides that night with 64% of the overall possession and 16 shots. Both teams went in level at the break with neither able to find a breakthrough.
VVV actually had more shots on target than their hosts and took the lead in the 68th minute through van Crooij, but Zwolle responded 5 minutes later with an equalising goal from Saymak. Despite Zwolle having more of the ball, VVV just about deserved a draw as they looked dangerous going forward and might well be disappointed not to have held on for all 3 points.
Both teams are in poor form heading into Friday’s game, but with 1 win, 2 draws, and 3 defeats from their last 6 matches its VVV who just edge the form guide ahead of Zwolle who have lost 4, drawn 1, and won 1. Mlapa is the top scorer for the hosts with 6 league goals this season and will be the focal point of VVV’s attack on Saturday morning. Both van Crooij and van Duinen remain Zwolle’s joint top scorers in the league on 4 goals apiece, but neither have managed to score in their last 4 Eredivisie or KNVB Beker matches which is definitely a worrying sign for manager John van’t Schip.

VVV-Venlo vs PEC Zwolle Betting Tips
- Despite VVV being the favourites here, we are actually favouring the visitors here. They are unbeaten against Saturday morning’s opponents in the last 4 games.
- We are expecting both teams to score here based on the above statistics. Both teams have found clean sheets hard to come by of late.
- We think that a draw will be a fair result for both teams and 1-1 is our prediction.
