Augsburg were able to increase the gap between themselves and the relegation zone to 10 points with a 6-0 demolition of Stuttgart last weekend. Under new boss Martin Schmidt, the Bavarians looked a completely different side to the one that lost 3-0 to Nurnberg and 4-0 to Hoffenheim in the games prior to his arrival. 

Forward Marco Richter scored a brace for the 2nd consecutive match in that 6-0 win. It was a much-needed confidence booster after going 19 appearances without a goal before that, so he’s expected to lead the line for the hosts once again this weekend.

Bayer Leverkusen also head into this off the back of consecutive wins after their 2-0 triumph over Nurnberg last weekend. Peter Bosz’s men remain 2 points adrift of the top 6 but should fancy their chances of closing the gap this weekend. Leverkusen can be quite the opponents on their day.
